From Naples to Los Angeles — A Journey of Flavor

Pizzana was born from a simple idea: bring the honest, soul-warming tradition of Neapolitan pizzana to the streets of Los Angeles without compromise.

Founders Daniele Uditi and Candace Nelson met through their shared obsession with great ingredients and precise technique. Daniele, a third-generation pizzaiolo from Napoli, had spent years perfecting the art of slow-fermented dough — a craft passed down from his grandfather's wood-fired kitchen. Candace, known for her work with Sprinkles Cupcakes, brought a fresh perspective on hospitality and modern flavor combinations.

Together, they opened the first Pizzana location on Sunset Blvd in 2014. The pizanna philosophy is simple: use the finest ingredients — 00 flour, San Marzano DOP tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella — and let the process do the talking. Every pizza tells a story of patience, heat, and craft.

2012

The Idea Ignites

Daniele Uditi arrives in Los Angeles from Naples with nothing but a suitcase, his grandfather's dough recipe, and an unshakeable belief that LA deserved a real pizzana experience.

2014

Pizzana Opens on Sunset

The first Pizzana location opens at 3515 Sunset Blvd. Within weeks, lines stretch around the block. LA Times calls it "the pizza Los Angeles has been waiting for."

2016

Michelin Recognition

Pizzana earns a coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand mention — recognizing outstanding quality at a reasonable price. The pizanna community explodes on social media.

2018

Nationwide Delivery Launch

We launch our nationwide pizza delivery program, shipping our signature frozen pizanna pies across the United States — bringing Sunset Blvd to your doorstep.

2020

Community Support Initiative

During the pandemic, Pizzana donates over 10,000 pizzas to frontline healthcare workers across Los Angeles — a moment that defines our community-first mission.

2022

Second Location Opens

A second Pizzana opens in Brentwood, CA, expanding our reach while maintaining the same handcrafted standards that made the original location famous.

2024

A Decade of Pizzana
